  1. Hey,

I run a political commentary blog and I am looking to see if there are any others on the site. I'm trying to join forces with a few so that we can help each other increase comments, maybe do some guest submissions, and do what we can to really grow. It's easiest to do anything when there are other people working with you.

Here's my site: We The People Politics. Let me know if you see anything that is interesting, please leave a comment, and let me know if you have a blog that is in the political arena and you're looking for some guest blog posts.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Jacob,

My first impression of your blog is more of a news commentary & comments on US policies than about politics. I like it that way, but you may want to tighten your own definition of your mission.

    just my 2 cents

  3. Fred,

Thanks for taking a look at the site. We do focus in on US issues; however, the fundamentals of it all is politics. Why do we have an embargo on Cuba? Politics. What else is there involved in Iraq other than killing? Politics. So, while what I talk about is US policies for the most part (there are some other posts in there about Russia and stuff), it's all politics.

    Thanks a lot.

  4. Thank you for your clarification Jacob, I understand. Presented that way, it is all politics, I agree;

you say "I run a political commentary blog...". As per your later explanation, it is true, but then you mention US policies towards Cuba (embargo and the like...); this position has been held by the US since the early 60es and has not changed with the passing of Dems or Reps in Congress or the White House.

You may gain an audience by making more distinctions in your presentation, i.e. making sure people understand that your blog commentary does not simply cater to the local catfights, but encompasses a very broad geopolitical view as viewed through the lenses of US international policies.

I invite you to take a new look at your subject matter, it may even help you tighten your focus on your true purpose.

If you like, you could post your elevator pitch for others to see. (I'd like to see it too...)

I liked the "magazine" style of your blog, very clear, pleasant and attractive - I disliked the banner in your header - it was screaming at me and disrupted the overall harmony of an otherwise very good design.

    All the best

  5. I occasionally post about political topics, but I could never restrict myself to the niche exclusively. I would likely succomb to the urge to leap from a tall bridge if I did so. Heres my most recent political post:  Cheney To Obama: Don't Blame Us

  6. Hi Matt,

I saw your post & left a comment but will not go back.

1- your blog is about everything: Intuitionism Music Espresso Family Leadership Bugs Health Gaming Politics Life

2- I had to retype my comment after your CAPTCHA caught me.

3- Too bloody many scripts that take forever to load and then stand in the way when NoScript blocks them and forces me to reload to read.

4- I could not choose which profile to read (there are a whole page of options) so I left before I could know you better.

    That's my feedback

    Cheers

  7. Hey Jacob,

I run a politics blog called Geek Politics. We blog from a conservative / libertarian viewpoint about everything going on in American politics. If you think you have something that fits with our site I would gladly consider publishing a guest post from you.  This post details our guest posting policies. Great site by the way. I really like the design.

  11. Thanks for the feedback Fred. All of that was fixed recently with my move to a new domain. I hope you'll visit again.

By the way, I found your content to be quite presumptuous and will not be frequenting your site.

I prefer political commentary written in a style that effectively triages it behind the more important things that life has to offer.

    That's my feedback.

    Cheers,

    Matt

  12. Wow, I always thought it was easy to get comments on a political blog. Just post someting and people are bound to come out of the woodwork to defend or fight. I can't stand political blogs because the comment sections are always filled with debating/arguining and while debating is healthy, the kind of debating I've seen in the comment forms of most political blogs is tasteless.

  13. Getting comments for a political blog is just as hard as for any other blog. I've found that getting comments on a MMO is probably the easiest because there are a ton of other MMOs out there trying to get links. I digress...To keep a healthy environment of commenting, you just need to make sure things are set in stone: no bashing the person, bash the idea.

  14. Hi, I'm another political blogger, commenting on life in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey.

    My site is http://wyblog.us/

It's mostly US-centric from a Conservative perspective, NTTAWWT.

I just signed up for the 31 day series.  I'm not sure what to expect yet, but I'm hoping to learn how to attract more comments and engage folks in thoughtful discussions.

  15. Hi everyone, I also have a political blog {crowd all together :"Hi Andy!"}

I gear my blog more towards open debate.  I post and then hope to get a discussion going off it.  I am always interested in a good guest blog.  Hope we can share a few of  our readers around.
