  1. Interlinking posts is definitely something that is done on A Future in Noise, even in retrospect, going back to previous articles and putting in links to new ones that are relevant to the topic! Definitely a must.

  2. Got a bit of trouble with this one . . . my hypnosis blog posts all show up with a URL that is just the name of my blog and a # hash mark.  When I go into the admin, it doesn't provide me with specific titles / URL's either.  Does anybody know how to interlink when you don't have a post-specific URL to link to? Looking forward to fulfilling this task when I can.

  5. This is a great exercise. I often look at the related post on other blogs and really don't know why i didn't do it on my own www.greedygirlsguide.com.

I have linked post that are part of series but never of individual post.

I downloaded Yet Another Related Post Plugin to help me get started. It works on but there are 2 things that I don't like a) it only shows related post on the indvidual post page not on the home page and b) it uses the H3 tage with seems to get lost in all of the other things i have the bottom of the post and c) There are a few post where it shows no related post.

I think i'm going to o back and manually put in unrelated ost and keep that up moving forward.

  6. On my blog, earlier I had created an atricle which says Improve Alexa rank; make money, which was well accepted by my readers on TechZee... Online, update and smile. Today, I created other post which says Behind Google search, it's pagerank...what's behind Google pagerank?.

After reading Day 8 material, I linked both of them and was happy to see the result, nearly every reader who visited this new post, visited earlier post for Alexa as well. This improved my averaghe reader time on site along with number of pageviews per user.

    It was great experience, thanks.

  7. I try to inter-link as often as possible. One thing I did learn was that it's important to use relevant anchors. I often use a phrase like, "for more information, click HERE," with here being the link. I will definitely be going back and changing this!

  8. Did this on a news post that I wrote today on Olympic fencing: http://www.fencing.net/news/world/ioc-says-no-more-medals-for-fencing.html

The site is currently on Joomla and I don't have any kind of related posts extension installed (and don't know if there is one).  We may be porting the site to wordpress soon anyway.

  9. I realized that in doing this there is a huge opportunity in the style of posts I use.  Most times I'm referencing authors of comic books and characters that appear in multiple posts.  That gives me the opportunity to link origin stories of characters and story arcs to previous posts all the time!  Now I just need to make sure I continue to remember this as I continue to write additional posts!

Love comics with great story telling and art? Then check out DCComicsReview for all things related to DC Comics!

  12. I actually had never considered doing this until reaching chapter 8...now I've successfully utilized this tip several times...not just within my own blog, but also on a blog where I am a contributing writer - in a post there I link to a relevant post on my own blog.  Thanks for this tip!

  13. My blog, being very young, has very few posts in it. But those that are relevant to each other are already linked in some way.

However, I never knew about linking with keywords. I'd just link with a 'here' or 'there'. So I'm going through these links and fixing them.

Thanks for this challenge Darren, it's teaching me more than I ever thought I could learn and it's just been a week so far.

  14. Same as before the lesson is a little intimidating until I get it. The it is fun. I figured out how to put hyperlinks in my post. I put in  three. I invite you to look.

  15. I have been lazy the past couple of days. It has been a couple of days since I posted on Day 7.

Linking within sounds good, but I only have about 150 posts on TheShoppingNazi. Metrics are showing that I am getting most of my page views from Chrstmas post. In fact, last week's most page views were on the one I did for Secret Santa.

I think I will need to get more posts before I can start inter linking.

My blog is new, so there is not much to interlink. However, I applied this strategy to my website (not old either) and built a couple of interlinks. Information from other sources previously told me that only inbound links counts, re: SEO. Now I know that I can do something under my control that’s also effective for marketing a blog site too. Many thanks to Darren! I really enjoyed the lessons so far.

  17. It has been relatively easy for me. Anyway a blog has its own common objective, a link to the objective will ensure my readers know why the blog is here and how it can serve them.

Within each post links are provided to areas with main theme example educational tour in Newater technology can be linked to conservation of sea water for fresh water use.

    • How did you find posts to interlink?

I just read through all my old posts. Thank goodness, my blog wasn't very big yet.

    • Do you already do this as part of your blogging?

Not much, I had done one post that referenced other related posts at the bottom. I am going to look into adding a plugin for related posts and I am going to pay attention to using keywords from earlier posts to link in new posts.

    • How did you find posts to interlink? This is something i've been thinking about doing for awhile now, I do like to link back and forward to relevent posts. I've found when reading posts on blogs, that I often go further into a blog if there is links to further reading. I'll be spending alot of time linking posts.
    • Do you already do this as part of your blogging? I've started doing it with newer posts, but my goal is to do more of it now.

    • How did you find posts to interlink?

I went to my Analytics and started with the most popular posts.

    • Do you already do this as part of your blogging?

I try to interlink old posts with new posts, and if I've written them one right after another, will go back to the old post to link it to the new. I took this opportunity, though, to add a reminder at the end of the posts to subscribe to my RSS feed. We'll see if I get a boost of subscribers!

  18. Interesting assignment today. I ended up using to plug-ins: “Arkayne” and “SEO smart links”.  I need to go back and play with them and tweak them a bit.   I love this idea and enjoyed reading everybody’s posts about how they accomplished this task.

  20. Hello,

I just purchased the book yesterday, caught a couple of things, and jumped right in with some of the ideas I caught while skimming through the first several sections.

I will need to go back and systematize more, but it was good timing for me to do this.  I combined the idea of making a "list post" and linking within for today, plus used the idea of a weekly review.

    How I did this was:

    1.  Made a summary of my posts for the past 7 days.

    2.  Gave it a title "list post" title (or whatever it is called): 7 Ideas For Personal And Business Self Growth

    3.  Linked to each article, of course, within the post (the linking strategy talked about in the book).

So, not sure how I will do with the assigned tasks, yet, but this is a start.  Oh, and I also used the idea from the book about having an affiliate link at the bottom of the post.  Did that with the affiliate link for the book.

From my point of view, it has been a good start!

  21. How did you find posts to interlink?

I took a look at my sitemap to see which posts were related and then checked to see where I could add some internal links.

Do you already do this as part of your blogging?

I usually interlink anything that is part of a series, or where an obvious link comes to mind. I haven't really made a concious effort in the past to interlink keywords within posts so I added a few links within posts to other relevant content.

My series on Building Your Real Estate Investment Team is the best example I have of interlinked posts on my site since it is a 9 part series and each part links to the other 8 parts.
