Day 15 - Find a Blogging Buddy

  1. Todays task is all to do with finding other bloggers to work with to grow each others blogs.

Luckily we just happen to have a few thousand other bloggers all looking to improve their blogs right here in the forum.

Head to the collaboration section of our forum and start your hunt for people to work with there!

Looking forward to hearing how you're working with other 31DBBB participants in the thread below.

  2. To find other bloggers on a similar level is somewhat of a challenge outside of the 31DBBB collaboration. My blog isn't all tat large yet and it's hard to find other blogs that are that small. Especially since I haven’t defined my niche with a few keywords or anything other than "tips, tricks, lifehacks, processes, thoughtpaths, simplifications, skills and habits I  learned over the years that got me through life so far." This all with a bit of zen in it.. (honesty... authenticity)

Would personal development cut it? There are so many of those blogs out there but not exactly my niche by the feel of it.

Already introduced myself to the collaboration and am hoping to find buddies with a mutual interest.

I think helping others is the single most powerful tool out there. I'll start conacting a few of the bloggers I really like to read. (Although some are a bit bigger than me, I could use a mentor too, as well as buddies...)

Mind the beginner A blog on beginning, it sounds so simple but it’s quite complex

  3. Christiaan,

Would love to work with you, I think are blogs are pretty similar, I think you're hard working and very serious about it and I believe our blogs are getting similar traffic levels! I'm at around 30 a day at the moment, though I had a spike of 197!

  4. I'd love to find another blogger to work with in the niche of being unemployed or laid off, and has a positive attitude toward an inevitable situation.  If anyone is interested, please contact me at the email below.

Darren - This is step two of what I was doing for about 4 hours yesteday.  I found a couple 'laid off' blogs, scraped their blogrolls, looked through them and scraped their blogroll as well.  Now I have over 100 links to check out.  Yesterday evening I sent out another 6 emails in addition to the 4 I sent out last week.  What I am asking bloggers to do is look over my site.  If they find my site of value, would they put my site on their blogroll?  Prior to the email though, I put them on my blogroll.  If in 30 days I don't get any response from 2 emails, I'm taking them off.

The responses were all positive.  I'm looking forward to working with them as well as others in this forum.

  5. Well, there is a perfect couple then! Congratulations!

Darren, one word of criticism: another email without an URL to this forum thread... tsk, tsk...

While I agree that this is an incredibly simple idea and most certainly effective to those who find similar -or even similar like- blogs out there, there are certainly niches which are not as crowded or 'competed' to be able to get that kind of support. What do you suggest then: to try to find as similar genre as possible or to find as similar minded blogger as possibly comfortable?

I mean, my Fast enough to catch the lure is very specific and I -as internet-illiterate as I am- couldn't find any blogs even remotely touching the main subject I've started to cover... and I feel it somehow a bit awkward to connect with general dog blog or another dog sport, really...

So, should I just pucker up and swallow my pride and find another dog sport blogger or find someone with similar kind of thinking over the dogs and playing with them?

  6. On Todays Task. I think its great.

I have already started a few things that lean towards that direction. Care to join and help out any 1

I started a Web Developers Programming thread in the forums. If thats youy niche, lets see how we can help each other as well as help others.

I also started a idea on a blog carnival. This is a very generic carnival, but I am planning to show those who are interested how you can join and have your own carnival in your own niche, cheack out the "Lets start a blog Carnival" thread.

The other thing that we can do, is subscribe to each others RSS feed, post Comments on blogs, write about each others posts and blogs, link to, etc. THere is just so much that can be achieved.

My blog and website is primaraly about web development, Content Management Systems, Programming. Mainly in the .NET/C# area. But I do blog and speak about PJP/MySQL, because I actually, believe it or not, do code in PHP as well.

  7. Hi all,  I blog for a living, so I blog for a HUGE range of subjects.  I spend about 50% of my time writing and 50% reading others blogs, networking and building links.  I believe in everyone helping each other out,  especially the 'little guys' and 'newbies'  a lot of whom have much more natural blogs than the 'big dogs'.

I also try to do profiles and resources reviews on all of my blogs,  to highlight great blogs.  The main ones that I am developing at the moment are:

    The Jewelry Reporthttp://jewelryreport.com

    Fotofocus Photographer Interviewshttp://fotofocus.us

    Writers Remorse Bloghttp://writersremorse.com/

    Wedding Fashion Files
    http://weddingfashionfiles.com/

So if anyone would like to work together, I'd love to hear from you.  I've already visited tons of blogs from this forum, and am really enjoying everyone's writing.

  8. This will take some time, because of the language and the niche. It's not hard to find something to work with food, but to find someone who is passionate about this thing... Well, I try to find someone, since I do believe in this.

  9. This is a very good idea, I speak to many bloggers on MSN which helps form friendships.

If anybody wants to talk to me and perhaps help each other like this then please do! I have many different interests but Success Circuit helps to motivate and inspire people to be more successful in all walks of life.

I would love to get to know you!

  10. There aren't too many large families out there, so I am looking for homemakers who blog about their family, but also share something with their readers.  That's what I want to develop - my service to my readers.

  11. I have other writing friends online but none of them are working to build their blogs the way I want.  My goal is to create websites that will be a benefit to the readers and be attractive to advertisers.

  12. @jams, what is it, Finnish? Must all words have at least a K and a J or ää to be compliant, as well as be over 15 letters long? ;-)) (my pick: terveysvaikutteiseksi - but I have no bloody idea what that means! Hopefully, there are pictures...)

Nice colors on your blog background though.

Let me know if you need a team, we'll be happy to see with you if you would fit in and like it with us. You'd likely have to commit to move to your own domain & hosting though.

Are you using Google Chrome ? We have answers for all your questions @  chromestory.com

  14. @fredinchina Finnish is my mother language, always so beautiful and makes the potential audience  limited, since there are only 5 million of us who know the language. And "terveysvaikutteinen" means pretty much "health effective", it's about groceries.

Thank you for the offer, but I do want to find blogging buddies in my own language. And I have been thinking about domain too.

  15. @jams - You are welcome, and thanks for the meaning of "terveysvaikutteinen", now I can sleep peacefully ;-))

  16. I've been following the challenge, but haven't participated in the forums because I was focused on finishing up my undergrad program, but now that's done. Whew!! I'm a mom/Christian blogger. I like to hang with mom bloggers, but find that because my youngest it 8 years old (oldest is 17) I don't find a lot in common with other mom bloggers. I would love to provide more information for mom bloggers with older children because, in my opinion, it is WAAAAAAAAAYYY more difficult when they get older and we don't have near the support system in place that we do for younger moms.  I'm sure this is a much smaller niche because most moms with older children are working out of the home and not as focused on blogging.  So, I'm sure I've got my work cut out for me, but I look forward to the challenge and finding other mom bloggers to help with the teen years! Tweet with me!

Well nuts, this is one task I really don't think I can do with the users in this forum, I'll have to hunt elsewhere. Gah! I might just skip this task.

  23. Great task. I like the idea of networking.  I blog about my family, what's going on in my life and nature.  I would like to connect with other bloggers that write about the same thing.

  24. I have been slowly getting to each one of these tasks.  Some I have been doing already, others are new and this has been a great help.  My area is personal finance from a Christian perspective along with occasional insights into my life.

  25. Hi, anyone blogging in spanish? I have two blogs, one about learning italian (www.tcalo.com) and another (with a blogging buddy) about tourism in Italy (www.conociendoitalia.com). The last one is really new but definetly blogging with someone else is much better than alone. Also because it creates some sort of competition to write better post, and new ideas for post are found easily.

  26. I'm going to put the call out there: work, life, and chinese is my blog. Interested in becoming blogging budies. Get in touch and we can discuss, I have a number of ideas already. I've been blogging a while now, but still consider myself a relative newbie. Never realised how much there is to learn.

  27. Looking to connect with other aspiring graphics designers.

    Posted 1 year ago #
  28. Yeah, I’m up for this. Many opportunities to help each other out and if an initial buddy-ing doesn’t work out then I’ll look on it as practice until some synergy is found.

My blog is all about helping aspiring writers to learn the lessons needed to walk knowledgably down the path to success, either personal or financial.

“Shack’s Coming and Goings” can be found at http://andyshack.blogspot.com/

I would like to work with two participants who posted previously (and will be approaching them tonight)

Sparkly Scott who blogs on Writers Remorse Bloghttp://writersremorse.com/

    I kinda liked his words,

“I believe in everyone helping each other out, especially the 'little guys' and 'newbies' “

Guess who considers himself (quite rightly) a newbie.

    And

Sharon hh who blogs on Straight Talk About Developing Your Freelance Writing Career

Her words were also really nice,

“I'd love to connect with other writers. If you'd like to write a guest post for my blog, I'm happy to return the favour. :)”

Anyone else into writing? Like to hear from you (contact details are on the blog – which I presume you will be checking out first.)

  29. In a way, it seems like this assignment is forcing us to properly focus on our niche(s) or at least forge a better defonition of them. I do not blog for a living nor do I want to spend most of my time blogging. I'm an artist and I'd love to spend most of my time making art while my blog (and newsletter, website and online shops) helps me gain clients, customers, collectors, afficianados of my work.

I've only posted one blog post since I started this but I have finally found a flow and will be posting regularily and consistantly hopefully beginning on Wednesday (I want to link my next Wednesday newsletter to my blog post). I'm not sure who I could buddy with such that our partnership would be mutually beneficial, but I would like to do this actively. I know that for me, the accountability will energize me to continue to work actively at making my blog and my business a staaand out success.
