Day 15 - Find a Blogging Buddy

  1. I also do not have a blogging buddy yet and I'm a bit shy about asking. My blog is meant to help me earn a living from my art and my art comes in two forms. A) Fine Art (2D) and Art Jewelry (beadweaving). so while I will occasionally talk about myself as an artist, I want my blog to be appealing to people who are interested in owning (my) art at least as much as appealing to other artists.

Anyone want to take me on?

A note to Jaime Lyerly Orange on green is impossible to read with my nearsighted vision. :)

  2. For this task we were reminded of the quote from the movie field of dreams

"if you build it they will come".

For us the main aim for this days task will be helping others (e.g. commenting, digging, stumbling and linking to good posts on other blogs). We also love the quote from Eric and Sean in the reading for this task.

"It is important to understand that part of the challenge (to find a blogging buddy) lies in the patience it takes to wait for the right blogger to enter our lives .. Never be overly eager or desperate! ... The right decision is rarely made in desperation."

    TIP
As Sean and Eric note, it's important gauge the background of potential blogging buddies. A way to find potential blogging buddies is to a search in google like the following.

    inurl:about + "your niche keyword"

Reason being that people seem to write about their true passions on their "about us" page. That way you can be sure you found the right buddy.

Patricia, (not sure why this is bold when it says it isn't bold)

Anyway, I looked at your blog. You have been blogging for a long time, which is great! I have a hard time with the multi-color pastel background and the lack of photos for each post. They are very text heavy for an artist blog! You don't have many catagories listed for your topics, but the ones you do are very appropriate for the blog.

Hope that helps! Please email me at jaime@jaimelyerly.com should you have any questions.

    Thanks!

  9. This is another great idea for building readers as well.  I have my solid followers that have been with me since the beginning as my blog has grown and changed with me.  But, I found several niche bloggers via twitter!  It's another great place to network and I've also picked up multiple followers via twitter as well.

Blog catalog has done well too.  And, it's a great place to find niche bloggers also under the various groups.

    Happy Sunday!

  13. I just wanted to report back that my experience with my blog buddy Liz Hover was great. She did a quick critique of my blog and gave me a list of things to change. They were all related to lay-out and template. Come and see what we have done with my blog. I have included a capture of what it looked like before.

  14. I am late to the table posting on this thread. And I did find another gluten free blogger doing 31DBBB and we are brand new buddies.

Since the forum will continue, I am posting that I am open to other gluten free bloggers. The more, the merrier!

I am new to all this, just started blogging as 31DBBB debuted. What a great way to start!

My link with my picture goes to my website, not my blog. Since I don't how how to change that, I am putting the link to the blog here.

  19. My name is Jason Sandeman. My blog is centered around food. I know that there are a billion food sites out there that have billions of recipes out there that are copied in one form or another. My site is not about just recipes or gorgeous pictures (I wish!!) My site is more about technique, and thinking about what we are doing. My site is about creating memories with food.

I would love a blog buddy who would be interested in that kind of synergy.

You can reach me at sandeman@welldonechef.com

    You can also see my site at;

  20. Would love to have a blogging buddy. I don't see any posts here from folks in my niche, but I think I could inter-relate well with a lot of different topics. My blog is the Future Expats Forum at http://futureexpats.com . I talk about about folks who leave their own countries and move overseas, or are planning to. More concerned with the who, how and why, not the what and where.

Obviously, reasons to expatriate are numerous and touch on finance, politics, geography (warm vs. cold weather, for example), culture, learning, and lots more.

If you'd be willing to consider a blog buddy in a different but related or overlapping niche, I'd love to hear from you! Although I started this 31 day adventure a lot later than most of you, I know there are others who are running behind the curve. Maybe we can help each other.

  21. Having blog buddies is also important to strengthen the morale of new bloggers. New bloggers usually feel discouraged when seeing big and succesfull blogs. They feel small and unworthy sometimes. Having a few buddies with the same level of growth is helpful to deal with it. It enables new bloggers to feel the same feeling and support each other. They can grow in a safe circle and experience positive growth, without the feeling of disheartened.

  22. I have found some great bloggers through networking sites like Business Women Unite and Connect 2 Mums...

Now, when I say I have found them, I haven't yet asked them to be blogging buddies as it were, but there are certainly some great opportunities there.

Thanks for another great lesson Darren!

  24. Hi,

I think I'm the only person in the whole forum that actually focuses on anime blogging, and I tried to find someone in the Collaboration forum section who share my genuine passion and interests in this particular subject.

    No replies so far.

Which is interesting because anime is actually a niche market in many parts of the world and I would have thought I would be albe to find other anime bloggers here in Darren's forum.  Couldn't reallly say it's my unofficial priviledge to be the first anime blogger in this realm of blogosphere.

Anyway, enought of my rambling.  I'm looking for a blogging buddy who shares my passions and interests in this subject of anime, especially in mech (or robot) subgenre.  My blog is www.generationmechjournal.com.  My long term goals behind this blog is to have act as portal to everything about Japanese anime with robots and promote all Japanese robot goods in the industry, and increase awareness of this subgenre to the general online public and have more 'mecha' fans online.

  28. I have begun to build relationships with several bloggers; I am hoping a relationship grows into a full blown collaboration soon.

Posted about 31DBBB today and received an exuberant response from Chazz Byron. Checked my stats and in two weeks time I have more than tripled my visitors. This is so awesome, I feel like as soon as I finish 31 days with this blog I am going to start 31 days with another one.

Maybe I should catch up on my sleep first. ;-)
