  1. I've got a blog I've been running (albeit on and off) for the past 12 years over at www.ladydelaluna.com.

It started out as a blog about a plus-sized model (me) who didn't want to be plus-sized anymore. Recently, it's been changed over to be about living fabulously - in regards to health and fitness, beauty, style, fashion, and the home. I've even got a small but growing section about personal finance.

Would love to connect with others in these niches for guesting opportunities - Luna Fab needs more voices! :)

  2. Sounds like an awesome concept.  I'm looking forward to reading your blog - those are all areas of interest to me.  I blog about food/cooking/weight loss and planning/organisation.

  9. Hi, looking forward to looking more at everyone's blogs. I write about health and fitness on my blog, Feasibly Fit Mom, from the perspective of a fitness professional and new mom. It's not a "mommy blog" per se, I try to include lots of info for everyone, from recipes to workouts to health and fitness news.

  13. Hey all,

I'm blogging about my adventures in the land of weight loss too. I'm a nutritionist and  registered nurse and it's high time I followed my own advice. I've most recently embarked upon a challenge to lower my cholesterol over the next 6 weeks if anyone is interested in joining me :)

  15.  Hello fellow  bloggers,

I want to ramp up the number of articles posted on my Health and Fitness Blog and I am looking for  FOUR writers who would like to contribute on a regular basis. (I just created a seperate topic about this)

    What you get:

    • Your articles published on an alreaady established popular blog
    • At the start of each post you get an editors note giving you a short bio, with your  blog link on it (eg "Editors Note: This post is written by X from www.X who is very experienced in the field of X")
    • On my About page, you get a full bio with your photo and links to your blog (Take a look at my existing contributor Andrew Verdon)
    • Regular links from my blog to yours

    What I am Looking For:

    • 4 posts per month between 300-1200 words
    • Together we would decide on the sub category (eg running, nutrition, weight loss, motivation, programs etc)
    • You email the 4 posts to me on the 1st of each month in word format and I will post them weekly (they can be very similar to existing posts you have already published just adapted for my site)

    About My Blog

I have a health and fitness blog that gets over 20 000 hits per month. I have a newsletter database of over 9000 emails, and have a healthy number of people commenting, asking questions and revisiting regularly. Obviously I would like to improve all these figures and good quality content in my opinion is the best way.

    Expressions of Interest

If you feel that you would like to  become one of a few contributors to my site, please comment below or email me at ameliab@definition.com.au and tell me the main topics you would like to write about and that you can commit to 4 posts per month for the next 3 months (as a start). Leave your URL so I can view your existing work. I am looking for quality not quantity!

You can read more about my online goals and my site on the ProBlogger 31DBBB introduction page   or just email me at ameliab@definition.com.au

It's not a guest post, it's a solid relationship to grow both our blogs. Can't wait to meet you!

  16. Larakulpa,

I think my blog is somewhat in the same niche as yours. To be honest, I'm having a difficult time finding my niche. My blog Graceful Creative is like yours except that I'm a SAHM. I try to avoid blogging about the usual "mommy-stuff", although it does sneak in there every once in a while.

I checked your blog out, and it looks fabulous. I plan to be a regular reader, and I look forward to the new posts. When you get the chance, swing through mine. I'd love to hear your opinion and am curious to see if you think it's in a similar niche.

  18. Hi everyone...my name is Stephen and I've been food blogging since 2005.

I'm now retooling my blog to focus on eating well while on a type 2 diabetes (or pre-diabetes) regimen. It's basically low carb, low fat, high protein, high fiber food so of course it's what we should all be eating. Right now I'm working through the 400+ recipes on my site to add nutritional estimates and commentary on how each dish would fit into a diabetes regimen. I'm also developing new site directories, links to diabetes educational resources and diabetes community sites, as well as "quick-start guides" for those who are newly-diagnosed.

Diabetes is somewhat ghettoized (that is, people who don't have diabetes look on people with diabetes as if through a barbed wire fence: "they're different from me and separate from me and god-willing I'll never be in there") - so I'm not sure my foodie fanbase will follow me as I make this transition. But there are 24 million people in the US with diabetes and almost 60 million with pre-diabetes (in other words, more than 1/3 of the U S adult population is affected) so I think there will be an audience for me.

I'm especially expecting to find readers among people like me: baby boomer, more or less healthy all my life, food enthusiast, suddenly needing a new attitude and awareness about food. My blog has always been about real food and real cooking, using fresh ingredients and traditional techniques, and this will continue as I take it in this new direction.

I'd love it if you have a reaction to this idea...

  19. Stephen - I'm 32 and was just diagnosed on March 9th (when I was still 31). I'm currently writing about it over at the blog I mentioned in my first post to this thread, as well as other things related to health and beauty.

I'm THRILLED with your idea, of course! Please stay in touch with me, as I'd like to see how we could work together (and I'd love to feature your recipes once you've gotten to reworking them!)

Part of my process here is to also include weight loss in the whole thing. My doc's got me on 1200-1400 cals/day with 30 mins of moderate to heavy exercise 7 days a week. I've yet to meet all that criteria strictly, but I'm workin' on it. I need to lose about 90 pounds to get to a healthy weight range... it's a hard road, but I want control over my diabetes. :)

  20. Hi Stephenl! Your ideas sound awesome.  I'm a small time food blogger who is trying to balance out with some healthier recipes and weight loss info as I too battle my bulge. I'd love to see your recipes with all the nutrition info attached. I've just hopped over to your blog and I'll be watching out for the makeover and following your tips and ideas.

  21. @Rachel @larkulpa

    Thanks for the encouraging words!

Larakulpa - I just read your post about being diagnosed! I felt like I was there with you! I have to tell you that when I was diagnosed in Sept 09 with Type 2 I thought it was the end of my life...but now I feel I'm at a bright new beginning. I've lost 40 lb and brought my A1c down from 8.8 to 6.3, average glucose down from about 200 to about 125...The cure for diabetes is education so get all you can...my health center sponsors a 14 hour 6 week course which I took and it really got me started. One of the difficulties of getting started is that it's such a complicated disease and there is so much information available that when you're thrown in the ocean and grasping for a lifering it can be very difficult to quickly get it in hand....being led through it by the hand in an organized way by an experienced teacher is extremely helpful.

And...don't get down on yourself for not doing all you should be doing all the time. We're human, which means we're not perfect. It's a long journey, you take it one step at a time...and if there's a backstep or sidestep now and then don't worry...just focus on making that next step forward.

I love Luna Fabulous, BTW...it feels very well-evolved, looks great...I'll be looking forward to following your journey...I subscribed to your feed.

If you want notice for the launch of the retooled blog, please follow me on Twitter or go to Stephencooks and either enter an email subscription or subscribe to the feed.

  26. kirwin,

I love Graceful Creative. We should network, too!

Your Romance article, and the Love Languages is right-on I think my DH and I scored about the same as you and your DH. We took the class years ago, but, our Pastor is doing a series on it starting this week. The book is worth its weight in gold! In fact, my husband used to buy me piles of expensive clothes, etc. for Christmas and my birthday. I used to sneak and return them, afterwards. I score zero on gifts, and I could not handle seeing a large credit card bill.

Men, you should know your lady's love language, it could save you $$$$, and not make her happy, if she doesn't speak the language you're speaking. A kind word or hug may get to her heart better than an expensive gift!  ;)

  28. I would definitely love to connect with other health & fitness bloggers out there.  I started blogging just about my own attempts to lose weight and improve my fitness but have started to expand into writing about general nutrition and fitness topics as well. I would love to have some guest posts on my blog, so if you are interested in writing one, please let me know.

  29. @lara and @stephen

I also blog about health/weight but am a dedicated foodie. I am also a scientist, however, so I sometimes focus on specific diseases, treatment and prevention. My dad has type 2 diabetes and I was planning on doing a segment on it in the future. I don't think foodies, health and weight loss niches interact enough, which is strange since it all revolves around food.

You both have beautiful blogs and I think there is a lot of potential here to build a community.
