  1. Day 1 of 31DBBB is about creating an Elevator Pitch for your blog.

    • What elevator pitch did you come up with?
    • How did you find coming up with yours?
    • What suggestions would you give to others coming up with their elevator pitch?

Feel free to share anything related to this topic in this thread.

  2. Very short pitch:

Designer Daily helps designers with design resources and inspiration. Get inspired!

    Longer pitch:

Designer Daily helps designers with design resources and inspiration. Freelancing, Getting things done and toughts on design are the other topics that are written about to help designers to fight their daily struggle.

Any comment or suggestion on my pitches welcome... :)

  4. @benlicher Thanks a lot, I changed it. It makes it much more attractive.

  5. Following reading the task, I realised that the previous elevator pitch was just not appropriate for me. I used to use "expect the unexpected", as well as "Don't give up. Give your best." So, I totally reformulated not just the elevator pitch, but my own description, as well. How did I do it? I just looked at my posts, at my tag cloud, and at my interests.

It came naturally: "about people, business and passion". That's for my main blog. I'll review my other blogs in the near future.

I'm blogging about the facts we encounter in our lives, as entrepreneurs and/or regular people, that I try to connect with the passion.

  6. Pitch:

The Bard of Valiant is on an expedition in the wildlands of the internet, finding valuable and original ideas to polish into concrete jewels you can actually use in a game. Viriatha plunders imaginative treasure to deliver those items that will transmute your game into something your players will remember for years to come.

Believing that theory should become practice, the Bard has the experience to keep it system neutral, equipping every level and class of game master.

    How:

A group of friends and I are all doing this together and I had alot of help on how it sounded and keeping an active voice.

    Advice:

Active voice - more energy, more confidence, more readers :)

  7. I've had a lot of trouble writing this elevator pitch - it's not that i don't know what my site's about, it's just i'm having trouble summing up everything i want it to be in only a few words.

At the moment I have, Rough Review - your world, reviewed.

    But I'm open to suggestions!

This is my current about page description:

<big>Rough Review is a blog based website dedicated to reviewing, commenting on and picking apart the world around us.</big>

We hope you’re able to find some sort of inspiration here and enjoy Rough Review as much as we enjoy putting it together for you

    Any advice?

  8. I didn't have a lot of trouble writing the pitch, but I'd like some feedback because I don't think it's a good idea for anyone to act as their own editor.

  11. Elevator Pitch: "I make treasure maps...is your life an adventure?" (I certainly appreciate any and all feedback - just getting started)

Interested in more (The Longer Pitch): "I can help you chart your course to the treasures you seek. I’ve set out an adventure with a team of the best explorers, most daring discoverers and fearless pirates the world has ever seen. This team cuts through endless seas of information overload in the dark of night in pursuit of the treasures that some people think no longer exist…but they are wrong. We get stuck, we get lost…it’s a very confusing and overwhelming world; this team can show us the way."

I came to this pitch and the whole theme of the blog after about 10 years of fumbling around with various self-help and other random interests that just didn't keep me engaged. I just couldn't sustain the excitement and passion to continue until now.

  12. I found this one a bit tricky to be honest. This is what I've come up with (don't be afraid to comment ;-)):

Spanish Only is, like the name suggests, all about learning Spanish and implementing it into your life so that you can learn it like a native! No more cramming of grammar, no more boring lessons; just learning Spanish, in a fun and natural way with these free tips and tricks. Let Spanish be the only language in your life.

  13. I struggled a lot with this one. In the end I decided to keep my tag line as the Elevator Short Pitch.

    Inspiring your Success.

Then for the long one I would make it up depending on who I am talking to.

    • What elevator pitch did you come up with?

Everyday Photos… Every… Day… BenSpark.com is about my life through photography. Each image is a gateway to a story about my daily life. Occasionally funny, inspiring, interesting or creative BenSpark.com is real life in photos. With over 1400 consecutive days and five different cameras BenSpark.com has documented images from the mundane to the amazing.

    • How did you find coming up with yours?

I had been using "Everyday Photos... Every... Day..." for a while now because that is what I do. I take a photo each and every day and blog about it.

    • What suggestions would you give to others coming up with their elevator pitch?

What is the essence of your blog. Why are you blogging and what do you want readers to take from your blog when they come to visit? Use that.

Feel free to share anything related to this topic in this thread.

This was a great 1st task to focus energies.

  18. Short Version:

Helping guys interact with web and world

    Longer Version:

My mission at Blogging Guy is to help guys interact with web and world. I seek to provide articles that will help guys live there lives online and off, and interact with the people on every front. I provide articles on a wide range of topics, from making friends to blogging. Anything and everything a Blogging Guy needs to know.

    ----------------------------------------------------

I started them by thinking through what it was my blog was about. It was tough because up until that point I didn't really know. I defined what the blog was about, and from there it was just a matter of putting it into words.

In coming up with yours, I'd say the main this is to start with what your blog is about. If you don't know yet, then stop and define that first and it will make things a lot easier for you.

  19. Oh, heck... for the short pitch, I just used my tag line:

"Tips, Tricks, and Great Resources for Hand Embroidery"

For the long pitch, I used my tag line: "Tips, Tricks, and Great Resources for Hand Embroidery"

The long and short of it is, the tag line seems to cover it! I tried to lengthen the long pitch, but everything else seemed superfluous.

  20. Short Pitch: Helping you be the best mom you can be.

Long Pitch: The Mom Maven reviews products and services geared to families. The Mom Maven links to other great family sites and shares ideas and information to help you be the best mom you can be.

  22. For my blog Women Exposed I went with "For women, about women." It was a pretty simple idea I came up with when trying to determine what kind of blog I wanted to create.

As for the elevator pitch (love that term) - I like the short, simple and too the point. Nothing ambiguous.

  23. @MaryCorbet

Could the long pitch be more 'active', fun and personal:

'I stitch top tips, tricks, and great resources together for hand embroiderers'

  24. Here's what I came up with for one of my blogs:

Short: Successful Reads - Books to Be Digested and Chewed

Long: Successful reads serves up nourishing food for your mind.  Eat for Wisdom and Success >> Read a Book

  25. This is the first time I know about elevator pitch, just imagine how excited I was with my #Day 1 on 31DBBB, I actually thought for a whole 1 hour++ and write, edit until 2am++.. and I PRAY hard that the following lessons would not be as hard... ^^

    Social @ Blogging Tracker ~

  26. I used to have a graphic Tweetie bird which invited people to follow me on Twitter but gave no info about what they would find if they did. Plus, for non-twitterers being invited to ‘follow’ can sound presumptuous. So I changed my announcement about my Twitter blog on Facebook and in my email signature to:

“my up-to-the-minute cultural producer stream: what’s crossing my desk & my mind”

    Longer pitch -->

“I’m a cultural writer and multimedia producer focusing on women, travel, and history and my blog is an up-to-the-minute stream of what’s crossing my desk & my mind”.

If I have another floor or two in the elevator ride I can add -->

“I share resources for writers and travelers, expats, Turkophiles and culturati of all stripes”

    • "More Adventure in Your Life Today" is my blog's tagline.
    • "I want to help you find the daily adventure in your life, by providing advice, examples, and real-life experience. there is no reason to be bored." This is the longer version of the elevator pitch.

    Any suggestions?

  28. Hi, my name is Leon aka Lipton

I run an eSports Starcraft 2 related blog at Starfeeder.com

Not sure how to make that more simplier or to the point, I guess I don't want to have to sell someone something, but I'm lucky in my niche, there aren't that many sc2 bloggers
