  3. 30 high-quality free font for great designs: http://www.designer-daily.com/30-high-quality-free-fonts-for-professional-designs-1999

I regularly use list posts on Designer-daily.com, they provide good traffic and people enjoy reading those. They know what to expect and this type of formatting makes the article easier to read.

I'd suggest to anyone writing a list post to:

    • use title tags
    • write short paragraphs

It was pretty easy, really. I already write lists, in a variety of formats, fairly often. Being scannable really counts.

I got quite a few more comments on this post than usual but I think it was the odd subject matter :)

Don't just assume writing a list will mak a huge difference. If your content doesn't grab their attention, they're not going to bother to read past item one or two at best.

  7. This is my list post.

    http://myblog2day.com/2009/04/12-attitudes-a-successful-blogger-should-have/

When I read the Day 2 of 31DBBB, my mind just poped out this topic and I started to write in point form. So far I have good comment in this post.

I'll be writing more list post in the future as I find this type of post could bring in more traffics and one-way links. :)

  8. I almost didn't do this task because I was too lazy (I'd thought of a few list posts but they involved having to look things up). But then, an issue came up and it was perfect for a list, so I wrote this: Coalition for Cheaper Books: 10 reasons why I won't be signing your petition. I didn't expect much from it, mostly because it's specific to Aussie books and it's not even a well-known issue for readers, but it got linked to from several blogs, including Crikey, posted on Facebook and reteweeted, and it's now my most viewed post.

I wrote it off the cuff, so it didn't take too much time. I'd like to do more list posts, but I have to find creative topics, and I probably won't do it too often (so it stands out when I do). The one thing I like to do/read with lists is to have the main point highlighted so I can skim through the list if I don't have time to read the entire post.

  9. I've written more list posts in the past, but this time I really spent time on it, overthinking my arguments and the point, and it turned out to work really well! And like Darren said: people on social bookmarking sites really like posts like these, as we speak I'm getting steady traffic from Reddit and have it featured as "hot" in the Learning section. Will now submit it to StumbleUpon (if that works out, have been malfunctioning here for the past few weeks).

  12. I always find it hard to push out a list post. My blog rarely had posts that are short, sharp and to the point enough to get away with most of them.

I gave it a try with Games of Campaigns Past though

  13. I'm a fan of list posts. I love reading and writing them as well. I did a couple of those in few days back, and have been getting quite good responses from the readers. I think the posts provided by the commenters above are quite nicely done as well. To me, I'm not too good of a writer, so list posts could cut me some slack into forming lengthy paragraphs just to convey the message. Next time wish to learn to be more succinct, and straight to the point. Some examples. feedbacks are welcome so we could help each other to improve:

  16. I had already planned on writing it, and had a good idea of what I wanted to say. I just pushed the publishing date forward a few days. I got a few trackbacks and comments on this post, but I believe most of them the 31 Day project. This is the first list I have written, and will do so in the future, but am not sure how often.

    • How did you find writing it?
I found that it came at a prefect time, many in my community kinda of view me as a sellout for merging my blog into the bigger Gameriot network and thus gaining access to more CPM. Making a List post about the other fansites in my niche was a great way to reach out to them. As I've networked I've made friends with a few of those on the list, but I also reached out to others that may have had problems with me in the past.

Writing the actual post was easy, I visit most of those other sites rather frequently. In terms of traffic back to the site, since I blogged about other sites, most of those sites posted the List and linked back, driving very targeted traffic back to the Starfeeder blog.

    • What tips would you give to others writing lists?
Write lists on something you are very knowledgeable on
Twitter it, and get others to RT the list
    • How did readers respond to your post?
Readers mostly had great feedback, also since the list was about other fansites, users replied back positively as well when noticing their site was featured.
    • Do you use lists posts on your blog regularly? Will you?
Not that often, but will try to work more of them in :)

  17. My list post was 5 Ways Bootleg DVDs Make You Poor

I found that it was easy to write because it was one of the posts that I had drafted for future posting on my blog, so the 31DBBB assignment fit right in with that plan. I already had some points that I wanted to make but changed the list slightly from what I had planned to write when drafting the post earlier this year. It also turned out to be longer than I expected but may be comprehensive enough for readers to fully understand how their finances are affected.

Tips for others writing lists: Set limits on how each number in the list will be expanded upon to make sure that you have not written an entire novel when it's all done.

I do not have a lot of comments on the post, so the two readers that did respond gave good comments and made some points that I did not consider which is the fact that DVDs may be obsolete in the near future. However, I lucked up on that one because I recently watched an online episode of LagTV where a popular movie reviewer and indepedent film supporter addressesd the DVD situation briefly, so I was able to respond to the comment with a counter-offer if you will, that explains they may have something there but it's not happening right now BUT how their response is still relevant to the post and makes my points even more clear.

I do not regularly use lists posts on my blog although I do like them. I will to use them regulary because they are one of the tips on your older Problogger post "20 Types of Posts" that I bookmarked in 2008 and reference when crafting post ideas.

  18. As a new blogger, I'm finding these tasks challenging but very useful for structuring the intent of my blog. For the list post, I listed the books I intend to read. I thought it could be a useful resource for other people interested in similar topics to me and would also give new readers an indication of where my interests lie.

Please have a look and tell me whether you think it works: http://jennykennedy.wordpress.com/

I think list posts will be very useful for my blog and I will certainly use them again.

  19. I've never written a list post before the lesson. I chose to do a post on the dirty dozen or the list of fruit and veg you should always buy organically grown to cut exposure to pesticides.

  21. Here's my list of 17 Movies I'd Like to See in 2009.  I just posted it today so I don't know if it's had any affect on traffic, but it has definitely sparked more conversation than a typical post on my site.  Great tip!

  22. This was the first list post I've done on my blog - Five Midwest llighthouses to love

It was an easy post to write, and I had fairly good response to it...a couple of comments, several RTs of my initial tweet about it on Twitter (plus some conversation about it there) and more hits than I usually get on posts other than my Photo Friday posts.

I probably will do some list posts in the future now that I've seen how easy they are to do and see if those posts perform similarly strongly for me.

  27. I wrote a list entitled 4 cookbooks and recipe collections I couldn't do without for day 2.  I had actually started the post before the challenge was up, so it was very timely for me.

I use a lot of lists in my own planning but hadn't really used many in my blog posts before this.

  28. My list posts was 33 Strategies to Creative Capital It was fun to write, and I came up with more items than I initially though of expanding the list from 20 to 33, which is a pretty amazing figure, as it's not just 1 sentence for each item. It's good to start a list post with something you have an interest in and offers a different perspective on the topic.
The list was recieved great, and I can only recommend you guys to check it out as well ;)

  29. Here's my list post - 5 Recession Savvy Fashion Sources.

Been balancing essay writing and blogging today so I only made a short list. I like the whole list format, I find sequencing my ideas really helpful.

If I'd have to give any advice it would be make sure you have a nice number, and explain your choices on your list - i don't want a bunch of links, I want to know why those points are important to you and, more importantly, me.

Shall report back on how list is received!
